Hayden to approve head coaches

— During a special meeting starting at 6 p.m. today at Hayden High School, the school board is expected to hire head coaches and assistant coaches for next school year.

Hiring the coaches was tabled at the April 18 meeting because the board met until 1:30 a.m. to discuss other district business, said Hayden Superintendent Mike Luppes.

"They just wanted some time to think," he said.

The coaches needed to be hired before next month's school board meeting, Luppes said.

He expects the board will approve athletic director Kevin Kleckler's recommendations for head coaches.

Robin Lighthizer, who was the assistant boys basketball coach last season, already has been named the new boys basketball head coach.

Hayden High School coaches the board will likely approve are Shawn Baumgartner, head football; Stephanie Davis, head volleyball and head girls basketball; Ty Zabel, head wrestling; Kleckler, head track.

For Hayden Middle School, the board will consider Greg Richards, head football; Dallas Robinson, head wrestling; Sally Brach-Morton, head track; Kevin Dellit for head boys and girls basketball.

The board also will consider Greg Richards and JD Paul for two paid assistant track coach positions.
