Steamboat Springs The Hayden School District will wait one month before finalizing its 2007-08 school calendar after the School Board tabled a decision during Wednesday's meeting.
"There was no consensus," Superintendent Mike Luppes said.
One option the School Board faced was to keep a calendar similar to this year's with a four-day school week from January until spring break in March.
A group of staff members presented a different option that rec-eived support from district staff.
The new option includes two Fridays off each month throughout the school year to allow collaboration time for teachers, which is currently what the four-day week offers staff.
Instead of having several months of blocked collaboration time, the staff would have collaboration time throughout the year.
School Board members wanted more feedback on the school calendar options before making a final decision.
"It was tabled so parents, staff members and various groups could provide more input," Luppes said. "It was decided we would take a look."
Parents and staff should expect to see the various options for a school calendar within two weeks, Luppes said. The School Board's next meeting is May 16, and a decision is expected then.
Under the new calendar, school still runs from Labor Day to Memorial Day. All options the School Board has to choose from include about 156 days of student/teacher contact, which is similar to this year's calendar.
"Staff and parents can expect to see copies within the next two weeks, and they are encouraged to provide feedback," Luppes said.
Luppes encouraged all school calendar feedback to go through the accountability teams at each school.
