Skiers earn top results at final meet

— A small group of skiers from the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club traveled to Arapahoe Basin last weekend where they capped off the season at the Landon Sawyer CU Bump Bash.

The normally laid-back event is held every year in honor of former Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and University of Colorado skier Landon Sawyer who died in a skiing accident in February 2002.

However, the Rocky Moun-tain Division event is important because it's a chance for skiers to pick up the first points of the 2007-08 season.

Steamboat's Eliza Outtrim made the most of her opportunity by winning the women's mogul event. Team Summit's Rebecca Miller was second, and her teammate Jordan Poyfair came in third. Top Steamboat finishers included Erica Damon in sixth, Jessica Enggasser in 10th and Alison Crowe in 12th. Steamboat's Shelby Dyer finished 17th and Camille Bucci placed 18th.

Telluride's Joe Disco topped the men's competition by topping Steamboat's Kevin Hanian who placed second and Winter Park's Tyler Robertson in third.

Other top Steamboat finishers included Bartley Damon in fourth, Ryan Dyer in sixth and Luke Kamieniecki in 10th. Brett Lee placed 16th in the singles with Bradley Hoefer in 35th, Sam Harrelson in 36th and Tyler Saxe in 38th.

Steamboat also had a strong showing in the men's dual mogul event, which was held April 15.

Dyer topped Vail's Matt Dillon to win the event. Kamieniecki was third and Team Summit's John Eaton was fourth.

Summit's Whitney Henceroth topped the women's dual and was followed by teammates Mikaela Matthews and Miller.
