Steamboat Springs — Pam Vanatta of Prudential Steamboat Realty was honored with the PREA 100 Award by Prudential Real Estate Affiliates, a Prudential Financial company, March 20 in San Diego.

The award goes to the top 100 sales professionals or teams who have achieved the highest residential GCI or closed residential units in 2007. Vanatta ranked 29th out of 68,000 real estate agents in the Prudential network. The award was presented during a special ceremony in San Diego, which was attended by more than 6,000 real estate professionals from the United States and Canada.

"We are very proud of Pam for her hard work, which is a reflection of her dedication to this company," said Cam Boyd, co-broker/owner of Prudential Steamboat Realty.

Vanatta entered the real estate field in 1986 and has been with Prudential Steamboat Realty since that time. In 2000, Vanatta and Boyd purchased the company. In addition to winning the PREA 100 Award, Pam also was recognized in the Chairman's Diamond Circle, an award presented to the top 0.5 percent of Prudential agents in North America.

YVEA offers compact fluorescent bulbs

Yampa Valley Electric Association will give a free compact fluorescent light bulb to customers. To collect the free compact fluorescent light, return the coupon from YVEA's newsletter "Current Events" that arrived in mail boxes in late March. In addition, customers can purchase compact fluorescent lights at the wholesale price. YVEA hopes customers will determine their top five used bulbs and replace them with CFLs. A 100-watt incandescent bulb can be replaced with a 23-watt CFL for the same lumen output. While an incandescent bulb produces 85 percent heat and 15 percent light, a CFL produces 90 percent light and 10 percent heat. Supporting conservation helps to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and preserve our natural resources for the future. Using a single 23-watt CFL instead of a 100-watt incandescent bulb saves approximately 750 kWh of electricity during the bulb's life.
