This synchronized figure skating team is from Chicago and will be performing Saturday night in Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club's Spring Fever Ice Show.
Steamboat Springs Upper level ice skaters like Braden Overett have to practice at least three to four hours a day on ice and one to two hours a day off the ice.
"They also take dance classes, Pilates and strength training," skating director Kim Haggarty said. "If they choose it as a professional career, they will do a lot of traveling. We are just lucky to have (Overett)."
Overett will be one of 10 national and international guest skaters in Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club's Spring Fever Ice Show on Saturday. The performance begins at 7 p.m. and includes 25 local skaters as well.
"We use some local and a lot of guest skaters to show people the direction the club can go in if we become competitive," Haggarty said. "Right now, we are just recreational."
Three young women - Jenny Spencer, Kelly Asher and Katie Krueger - who were part of the Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club started a synchronized skating team at the University of Colorado.
"They are bringing their team up, and this show will be their debut," Haggarty said. "It is one of those things you always hope you pass on, and they continue to do after they leave Steamboat. These girls have done that."
Each of the guest skaters will exhibit her unique style.
"Their numbers are already choreographed, so you get a variety of music and styles," Haggarty said. "It's the quality of skating you would see on TV."
Guest skater Brittany Bowlen will perform her entire routine with two hula-hoops, and Overett will show off his triple axels.
"Some people can skate but have no personality. Braden is a person that gets the audience into it and is very fun to watch," Haggarty said. "When you actually see how fast he skates and how high he jumps, you will see how amazing he is."
