Artisans invited to Hahn's Peak arts, crafts fair

The second annual Hahn's Peak Arts, Crafts and Antiques Fair is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25. Anyone who would like space for the fair should call Marge at 879-7291. Spaces are $30 each, and proceeds benefit the Hahn's Peak Historical Society.

Democratic Party to host water discussion

The Routt County Democratic Party will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Olympian Hall. The event includes a short potluck dinner and business meeting. Following the business meeting, Ken Neubaucher of Trout Unlimited will lead a discussion of Colorado Water Law and Potential Transbasin Digressions. Contact Ken Bren-ner at

Casino Night fundraiser Saturday at Grand Resort

The Family Development Center's Casino Night fundraiser is from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. There will be gaming, a cash bar, a silent auction and light appetizers. Admission costs $25 at the door or $20 in advance.

All proceeds will benefit the FDC's nonprofit organizations, including the Discovery Learning Center, the Child Care Network and the Newborn Network. Specifically, this year's profits will help pay for a security system for the FDC facility at Village Drive and Walton Creek Road.

Library book discussion series ends today

Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue its popular "It's a Girl Thing" book discussion series for girls and women this spring. The free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner such as a mom, grandmother, friend or teacher. Pairs can sign up for one or two discussions.

The last program date is today. Discussions are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the library. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep. Pre-registration is required.
