The animals were shot illegally along Routt County Road 65 near the Moffat County line. Officials think the shootings occurred early Sunday evening. The town of Hayden is trying to determine how to repair a leaking water supply pipe in the Yampa River. The town pumps water out of the Yampa to its treatment plant. But earlier this month, the pump's efficiency fell off because of a leak in the water line, forcing the city to rent an additional pump at a cost of about $300 per day. A new pump would cost $25,000. The town has met with the Army Corps of Engineers to determine what to do next. Repairing the pipe could mean diverting or temporarily damming the river.
