Gunman, girl dead at Colorado high school

A gunman took six girls hostage at the high school in this mountain town Wednesday, using them as human shields for hours before he shot and fatally wounded a girl and then killed himself as SWAT team members moved in, authorities said.

The last point whimpered to the ground on an error at the net. The six girls on the Bulldogs side of the court exploded in cheers before the deluge of Moffat County fans stormed their home floor to celebrate a feat that had not been accomplished in 16 years - beating Steamboat Springs.

Hayden eyes plant repairs

There is more than one way to pump the water out of the Yampa River to serve the town of Hayden. Since the beginning of September, a busted pipe has forced the town to use a rented pump to supplement the amount of water sucked from the river into the treatment plant.

Bodies of six antelope, two deer illegally shot found Monday

The Division of Wildlife is looking for the person or people responsible for illegally shooting six antelope and two deer. The carcasses were found along Routt County Road 65 on both sides of the county line, and officials think the shootings occurred early Sunday evening.
