— Steamboat Springs soccer coach Rob Bohlmann was looking for his team to put together a complete game against Palisade on Saturday, after struggling to find a rhythm against Battle Mountain earlier in the week.

The Sailors came through for Bohlmann, downing the Bulldogs 6-0.

"The key thing for our guys was they were able to connect 80 minutes of solid soccer," Bohlmann said. "We were very consistent from the opening."

After the 2-1 loss to Battle Mountain on Tuesday, Bohl-mann said he had no worries about his team coming out flat. Bohlmann said this group of players has worked hard and been consistent all year.

"The great thing about this group this year is they are very resilent," he said. "They were just ready to get back on move on with things. The key with them is they are a determined group."

Daniel Wright scored a goal, while Nick Labor and Sam Houston both had a pair. The other Steamboat goal was scored when Labor crossed the ball and a Palisade player inadvertently knocked it in. Max Hamil and Labor also had assists. Bohlmann said the prettiest goal of the game came when Labor crossed a ball to a diving Houston who headed the ball in for a 5-0 lead.

Bohlmann also credited freshman goalie Connor Birch for outstanding play in his first varsity game.

With more than half of the season done with, Bohlmann said he is happy with the way his team has played to this juncture. The Sailors are currently in second place in the Western Slope League, with a 3-1-1 record.

"Things are going very well for our kids right now," he said. "They've got the proper mentality. We go into every match saying, 'today is the league title game.' I've got a lot of confidence, and more importantly the boys are playing with confidence."
