Steamboat Springs South Routt Superintendent Kelly Reed will make a much-anticipated announcement at today's South Routt School Board meeting.
"I'm letting them know we are the proud owners of 9 acres," Reed said.
The South Routt School District officially acquired the piece of land in Stagecoach recently, so Reed is pleased to make the formal announcement tonight.
The school district received the land off Sagebrush Trail free of charge. Developer Brian Stahl donated the parcel to get approval for his Neighborhoods at Young's Peak subdivision.
"It was finalized last month," Reed said. "It won't be a big discussion item."
Reed said the district has no immediate plans to build a school at Stagecoach.
"At this point, there is no discussion whatsoever," Reed said. "We hope in the next five years or so."
Also tonight, the board is planning to adopt resolutions on Amendments 38, 39 and Referendum J.
Reed doesn't support any of them.
"I've drafted resolutions to the board, and we will vote on this," he said.
The School Board meeting starts with a 30-minute executive session at 7 p.m. today at the administrative offices near Soroco High School.
