Book club encourages new members to join

Bud Werner Memorial Library's Book Club is encouraging new members to join. The club meets every four to six weeks and is facilitated by Michelle Dover, the library's circulation manager. Soroco PTO putting together cookbook

The Soroco Parent Teacher Organization is publishing a South Routt Centennial Cookbook in celebration of Yampa and Oak Creek's 100th birthdays. Anyone interested in submitting a favorite recipe is encouraged to contact one of the cookbook committee members or drop off the recipe in collection boxes in the South Routt School District administration building, the Yampa and Oak Creek libraries or the Yampa, Phippsburg or Oak Creek post offices. Recipes also can be e-mailed to wpalyo@aol.com.

Yampavalley.info seeking volunteers for Web site

Yampavalley.info is seeking volunteers to oversee major sections of the Web site. Yampavalley.info officials are looking for center managers for the arts & culture, communications, employment, history, natural resources & environment, and religion sections of the site. Center managers maintain links, add new information, answer online questions and serve as expert resources for information about the community. Steamboat Youth Hockey registration open

Registration for Steamboat Youth Hockey has begun for boys and girls ages 6 through 18. Pre-season registration discounts as well as scholarships are being offered through Sept. 11. Register online at www.steamboatyouthhockey.com. For more information, call 871-0063.

Veterans encouraged to apply for VA health system

The Routt County Veterans Affairs Office is encouraging local vets to apply for the VA health system. Local veterans affairs officers Michael Condie said a community-based outpatient clinic for vets could be built in Craig if sufficient use is proven. Having a CBOC in Northwest Colorado would eliminate the need for many vets to travel to the Grand Junction VA medical facility.

To sign up for the VA health system, stop by the Veterans Workforce offices in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center in Steamboat Springs.
