Rec league season winds down

— Having played in Steamboat Springs' adult recreational summer softball league for the past ten years, ABI team captain Yvette Look knew that going into Thursday night's Coed C League playoffs with a No. 7 seed didn't mean a thing.

"With the tournament play, anything can happen," Look said.

Behind the pitching of Joel Anderson, ABI won its first playoff game of the evening and then went on to beat No. 3 seed 8th Street Steakhouse and No. 2 seed Steamboat Christian Center to meet No. 1 seed Concordia Lutheran in the finals.

ABI kept the momentum going to win the championship game, 18-5.

"The ump said there's never been a team that's won four in a row to win the championship," Look said, emphasizing how the playoff night was the first that her whole team was able to show for. "Everybody was hitting, and we just clicked."

The adult recreational summer soccer league finished Aug. 22 with an exciting double-overtime finish as No. 3 seed Spiffy Dog beat No. 4 seed Carty Enterprise/Sound Construction by a score of 2-1.
