Steamboat Springs Three Steamboat Springs residents suffered minor injuries when their car rolled multiple times in an accident early Friday morning.
Steamboat Springs police Sgt. Nick Bosick said the three people in a 1989 Mazda MXS - 23-year-old driver Brandon Cook and two teenage girls - were traveling north on Routt County Road 129 near Steamboat Springs Airport when Cook reportedly lost control of the vehicle, drove off the right side of the road and rolled the car three times. The accident occurred at about 1:30 a.m.
Cook reportedly lost consciousness after the accident and hurt his wrist and head, Bosick said. All three people were gone from the accident site when medics arrived shortly after the accident was reported, Bosick said.
Medics with Steamboat Springs Fire-Rescue reportedly found the girls walking down C.R. 129 toward a mobile-home park. The girls did not sustain major injuries and were released to their parents after being taken to the police department, Bosick said.
Officers were not able to find Cook until late Friday afternoon, Bosick said.
Cook may be facing charges, which could include driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, he said.
Bosick said Cook most likely was speeding at the time of the accident and that alcohol is being considered as a contributing factor.
Bosick didn't know whether the three people were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. The accident still is under investigation, he said.
