Steamboat Springs A 51-year-old Steamboat Springs man was arrested early Thursday morning after refusing to pull over during a routine traffic stop. Police said they had to use a Taser to subdue the man.
Steamboat Springs police Officer John McCartin said Charles Latham was driving near Pine Grove and Mount Werner roads at about 2 a.m. when Latham failed to use his turn signal, and officers began following him.
Police attempted to pull Latham over, but he refused to stop and continued driving west on Lincoln Avenue, McCartin said.
Police eventually used a set of nail strips to stop Latham's car west of Steamboat Springs on U.S. Highway 40.
Police said Latham refused to cooperate so officers used a Taser to subdue him and get him out of his car.
Latham was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence, resisting arrest, failing to stop at a stop sign and red light and felony eluding.
The man's drivers license also is suspended, police said.
