Home sales thrive in West Routt

Hayden was the hot market for single-family home sales in the sub-$500,000 range, with 20 transactions during the third-quarter that ended Sept. 30. Doug Labor of Buyers Resource Real Estate said the 20 homes that sold in Hayden during summer and early fall ranged in price from $145,000 to $322,000. Labor is the official keeper of real estate statistics for the Steamboat Springs Multiple Listing Service.

I remember having a conversation with Steamboat Springs Middle School assistant principal Jerry Buelter late in 2005. Our conversation revolved around what the "best school district" in the state of Colorado would look like. There were many identified characteristics, some of which included a diverse curriculum, dynamic community, administrative leadership, advanced educational environments (facilities), and highly (continuously) trained professionals capable of stimulating a passion for learning.

Bookings for ski vacations running ahead of schedule

Lodging properties are reporting an increase in advance bookings of Steamboat ski vacations. The pace of reservations is consistent with an increase in airline seats booked. "I have been doing this for 20 years and this is one of the best years we have had," said Bob Milne, owner of Steamboat Resorts. His company manages 19 properties and rents 875 units.

Former Steamboat Springs resident Ruth "Rusty" Mack Poulter died peacefully Oct. 21, 2006, with her family at her side, at Hospice Family Care Center in Tucson, Ariz. She was 78.
