Soroco falls to West Grand

In what could potentially be their final home game of the season, the Soroco Rams fell to West Grand Tuesday night in four games, 25-23, 26-28, 25-14, 25-20.
Rams coach Betsy Photos started her five seniors in game one, but said her team had trouble connecting until the second game.
"That second game was close, and Amanda Wilson just couldn't miss," Photos said of Wilson's 9 kills in game two that led the Rams to their sole victory of the evening.
After a one-sided, 25-14 Mustangs win in game three that deflated Soroco, Photos said she was proud to see her team rebound in game four and fight back to keep the game close.
Down 20-13, Soroco rallied to bring the game to 21-20 before a costly net error allowed the Mustangs to pull away to a 25-20 win.
Kelsey Samuelson provided consistent passing for Soroco with 18 assists and Wilson led the Rams with 14 kills, followed by Sarajane Rossi with 9 and Jamie Glawe with 6.
While the match was only a non-league loss that has no qualifying ramifications for districts, Photos hopes the game two play will carry over to Friday's game at Grand Valley - one that will determine home field for the later tie-breaker "pig-tail" match between the two teams.
