— Two real estate firms have tapped into the growing Hayden real estate market.

Steamboat Springs-based High Mountain Sotheby's International Realty and Craig-based RE/MAX have opened offices in Hayden.

"I feel that the timing is right, and the community is alive," said Vonnie Frentress, managing broker for the Hayden Sotheby's office and a Hayden resident. "We're very, very excited. I love the community and the residents."

The office is at 349 Jefferson Ave. in a building that was formerly a home.

Sotheby's managing broker Tony Walton said opening an office in Hayden was always at the back of his mind, and things just worked out.

"The real estate business is opportunity-driven and the opportunity was there in Hayden," Walton said. "Vonnie is the perfect person to run it."

Also working out of the Hayden Sotheby's office is associate broker Mark Dudley, who grew up in Steamboat Springs.

Routt County Assessor Amy Williams is also transitioning into her new job at the office as a sales associate. Williams will be working out of the office as an appraiser with Nash-Johnson Associates.

Walton said the services offered at the Hayden office will be the same as those offered in Steamboat.

Walton said his firm wants customers in Hayden and Steamboat to be life-long customers. He said that is achieved by providing first-class service.

"It's something I think Sotheby's does better than anyone else," Walton said. "(In Hayden) we have the same way of doing business, but a more convenient location."

With the addition of the Sotheby's and RE/MAX to downtown Hayden, the number of real estate offices easily outnumbers the number of downtown eateries. It is just one of the signs of the growth that is occurring in Hayden and surrounding areas.

"You never know until you see see it, but there is certainly a lot going on," Walton said.

Growth in the area was also a reason why RE/MAX broker owner Sheila Brennise opened a Hayden office.

"We're seeing a lot of buyers in both Hayden and Craig," Brennise said.

Brennise now has seven agents working for her since opening the RE/MAX in Craig a year ago. The Craig office is now moving into a bigger space.

Hayden resident Kristy Stinnett has worked as a Realtor for RE/MAX in Hayden for the past year and started working out of the new office in May.

The Hayden office is a member of the Steamboat and Craig multiple listing services.

"Whatever we list is exposed to the whole valley," Stinnett said. "I've chosen to help buyers in both directions."
