Man arrested after alleged assault on child

A 22-year-old Steamboat Springs man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Routt County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ray Birch said Tuesday that the case was "very sensitive" and that he wouldn't discuss the facts of the case because it is still under investigation.

The man appeared in Routt County Court on Tuesday, when a judge set bond at $20,000. The man is scheduled to appear in Routt County Court at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25.

The arrest warrant in the man's court file has been sealed, court officials said. The man's attorney, Charles Feldmann, said the man allegedly met the teenage girl at a bar and that the alleged victim says the man forced himself upon her. Feldmann says the man denies the accusations.
