Steamboat Springs Prescribed burn to continue through tonight
A prescribed burn began Tuesday and will continue through tonight at the Steamboat Ski Area. The Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service, is conducting the slash burn as part of a project to re-grade the Broadway ski trail in the South Peak park area. Smoke may be visible above the Rolex trail. Local fire and county authorities have been notified about the burn.
Ski Ball and Auction coming in December
The new Ski Ball and Auction will be at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel on Dec. 2. The evening will start at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and continue with hors d'oeuvres, a live auction, dancing and music by the 17th Avenue Allstars. The event benefits Steamboat's athletes with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. To buy individual tickets, a corporate table or to contribute any items to the auctions, call the Winter Sports Club at 879-0695, ext. 106.
Girl Scouts selling nuts, candies
Girl Scouts are selling nuts and candies through Oct. 14. Anyone who would like to place an order can call Tammy Ryan at 879-9813. Also, the Girl Scouts' fall registration is ongoing. Library hours expanding at Oak Creek, Yampa
The South Routt Library District is extending hours at the Oak Creek and Yampa public libraries.
Hours at the Oak Creek Public Library are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday; 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Story-hour is at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Oak Creek Public Library is closed Thursdays and Sundays.
Hours at the Yampa Public Library are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Story-hour is at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Yampa Public Library is closed Fridays and Sundays.
