— One year after a season with only two wins, five of the 11 seniors on Steamboat Springs High School's boys soccer team were recognized for helping the Sailors to a winning record, a second-place Western Slope League finish and a postseason berth.

League coaches voted players David Comeau, Nick Labor and Max Hamil to the 11-member All-League team, and Sam Houston and Robert Sorenson were named to the honorable mention All-League squad.

Head coach Rob Bohlmann announced the selections at the team's banquet last week.

"Everything we do is 'we' as opposed to 'me,'" Bohlmann said. "These guys were representatives of the effort of the whole group and were all humble about it."

The Colorado High School Coaches Association also awarded Comeau with All-State Honorable Mention honors.

"It's cool to have other coaches that recognized our ability," Labor said. "Coming off the last two seasons, it was a great turn out for the program to be the senior group to help bring (a winning tradition) back."

Labor was pleased to make the All-League team with Hamil and Comeau, especially considering the three seniors had lettered together on Steamboat's varsity squad all four years.

Bohlmann said the selections showed balance in Steamboat's representation between each of the three players' unique contributions on the field and as team leaders.

Bohlmann pointed to Labor's ability to "lead the charge" as the team's captain, Comeau's attack-minded skills as the team's "most seasoned" player in terms of varsity experience, and the passion Hamil brought to defensive play as the team's central back.

All three players are considering options to play next year at the collegiate level.
