— First Impressions of Routt County officials understand that expectant mothers and new parents often have lots of questions.

In an effort to help them get answers, the nonprofit organization is hosting a Parenting Expo from 10 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel.

"We are targeting people new to Routt County," First Impressions early childhood manager Stephanie Howle said. "Whether they want to start a family or they are already pregnant or have an infant, we want to be able to show them all the resources that are available in Routt County. We feel people move here and get overwhelmed."

The expo will be interactive and informative, Howle said. Sixteen parenting sessions are scheduled, and they will cover topics such as nutrition, prenatal care and immunizations.

"With First Impressions being all about meeting the needs of families and children in Routt County, we are focusing more on public engagement and having people aware of our resources," Howle said.

The Visiting Nurse Assoc-iation will be at the Steamboat Grand on Saturday to discuss its programs.

Dr. Rosanne Iversen will give presentations about breastfeeding and immunizations. Dr. Steven Ross also will be at the expo to talk about prenatal visits, infectious diseases in infants and infant sleep.

The schedule of seminars and a list of presenters is available at

The event is free, and flu shots will be available for $20. For more information, call Howle at 870-5270.
