Driver's License Office to close Nov. 15-17

The Steamboat Springs Driver's License Office will be closed Nov. 15-17 because of vacations for staff members.

QuitLine to provide nicotine patches during Smokeout

The Great American Smokeout is Nov. 16. The annual observance, created by the American Cancer Society, encourages smokers and smokeless tobacco users to quit for a day in hopes that they can quit for good. This year, Coloradans have an added incentive to participate - eight free weeks of the nicotine patch from the Colorado QuitLine. Any tobacco user can receive up to eight weeks of the patch free by simply calling the Colorado QuitLine at (800) QUIT-NOW. Volunteers needed for free Community Thanksgiving

A free Community Thanksgiving Dinner is from 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. All are welcome. The dinner is sponsored by Routt County United Way and Wells Fargo Bank. Volunteers are needed to staff the dinner and to bring prepared foods. For more information, call 879-5605.

Festival of Trees fundraiser benefits Pioneers museum

The Tread of Pioneers Museum's annual Festival of Trees is Nov. 11-20 at the museum. The 12th annual Festival of Trees will feature 26 beautifully decorated trees created by local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Public viewing of the trees is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 11-19 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 20 at the museum. Admission is free for Routt County residents.

Figure skating club plans wine-tasting event, auction

The Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club's annual silent auction and wine-tasting fundraiser is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Catamount Ranch and Club house. There will be food, wine and live music performed by Todd Musselman. The silent auction includes art, music, food, fishing, skiing, sleigh rides, getaways and more. Tickets to the event are $35 a person and can be purchased at Howelsen Ice Arena or from Figure Skating Club members.
