Why you should go: Because the book is about a fascinating true story of life in the remote Yampa River Canyon within Dinosaur National Monument, which is miles from civilization. Come and learn about our Western history.

¤ Poetry Slam!
When: 7 to 9 p.m.; registration begins at 6 p.m.
Where: Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, 56 Seventh St.
Cost: Free
Why you should go: Because it's time to speak your mind. Come prepared with two poems that are three minutes or less. Props and costumes are encouraged. Spectators should come prepared to hoot and holler.
