Steamboat Springs A forum Friday will help participants decide what when faced with change.
The forum, hosted by Yampa Valley Partners, is the third in a series called "Living in a Community of Choice." The series has brought together people from Routt and Moffat counties to discuss change and how to address it.
Yampa Valley Partners is a nonprofit organization that supports the development of healthy communities in Routt and Moffat Counties.
The first meeting, which was in March, began with an introduction to the Yampa Valley and how its communities could approach change. Topics included societal, financial and governmental factors' influence on decision making. Some of the changes that were discussed were regional transportation, education needs and drilling and resource development.
The April forum focused on how communities can adapt to change while meeting their future goals.
"The first two forums looked at the regional issues: What are those concerns and changes that are happening in our region? Then, we spent time talking about how we might anticipate changes from all of those actions coming our way and adapt," said Audrey Danner, executive director of Yampa Valley Partners. "The more flexible we can be with all of these complex issues, the more successful we can be in addressing those issues."
Summaries of the forums are available online at www.yampavalleypartners.com.
On Friday, forum participants will discuss which actions to take when responding to changes and challenges in a positive way.
The forum will begin with a quick review of previous topics, and participants will create action plans. Danner said participants also will spend time looking at regional changes and trying to anticipate what changes they haven't considered.
