A Steamboat Springs woman was taken to the hospital Monday morning after she sustained minor injuries in an accident near Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden.

Colorado State Patrol trooper Melissa Remner said Sara Stoedter, 29, was driving a green Honda CRV east on Routt County 51A when she rounded a curve, lost control of her vehicle and rolled the car. The accident occurred at 10:15 a.m.

The car rolled into a barbed-wire fence on the side of the road. It came to rest on its driver side, Remner said.

Medical workers extracted Stoedter from the vehicle through her front windshield, Remner said.

Remner said Stoedter was traveling faster than the posted 35 mph speed limit on C.R. 51A and that her speed caused the accident.

Stoedter most likely will receive a careless driving citation, Remner said.

Hayden police officer Gordon Booco said the roads were wet at the time of the accident but that morning rain showers had stopped when the accident occurred.

Yampa Valley Medical Center spokeswoman Christine McKelvie said Stoedter was treated for her injuries and released Monday afternoon.
