Day of Caring helps elderly, people with disabilities

Routt County United Way is celebrating its 10th annual Day of Caring on Wednesday morning. The Day of Caring is an opportunity for people of all ages to participate in projects that help the elderly, residents with disabilities and disadvantaged residents of Routt County.nited Way matches projects that will benefit nonprofit organizations and their clients with volunteers. Volunteers will be served lunch at noon at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Call the Routt County United Way at 879-5605.

Female soccer players needed for competition

Local female soccer players are needed for a coed adult soccer tournament May 27 and 28 in Las Vegas. Interested players must be 18 or older. For more information, call Ryan or Brooke at 879-6890.

Donations accepted for Hayden scholarships

Donations are being accepted for scholarships for graduating Hayden High School seniors. Interested donors are asked to send their gifts to Hayden High School, in care of Hayden Community Scholarships, P.O. Box 70, Hayden, CO 81639. Historical group marks month with celebrations

Historic Routt County is celebrating National Historic Preservation Month with several meetings and an exhibit.

The special exhibit, displayed in the lobby of Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat Springs, features historic American Building Survey drawings of Routt County properties. Historic Routt County's annual meeting and awards celebration is from 2 to 4 p.m. May 13 at the Mesa Schoolhouse. Space is limited. RSVP to 875-1305. A historic property panel discussion, "Surveys, Historic Districts and Historic Designations: Fact or Fiction," is from noon to 2 p.m. May 18 at Hayden Town Hall. RSVP to 875-1305.

Mother-Daughter Day program is May 13

Fifth-grade girls and their mothers are invited to the fourth annual Mother-Daughter Day from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 13 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel.he free program, hosted by New Frontiers: For Women and Girls, includes topics about peer pressure and healthy lifestyles.
