Fund raise by filling your belly

The Stepping Stones Transition Program has a tasty way to raise money.

More than 20 restaurants are donating food for the third annual Bite of the 'Boat fundraiser. Attendees can purchase $1 tickets to sample foods. Each food item costs between one and three tickets.

The event also will include live entertainment and a silent auction. Auction items include teeth cleanings from local dentists, earrings from Hofmeister Personal Jewelers and items from Ski Country Antiques.

Stepping Stones is a transition program for Routt County students ages 18 to 21 who need additional help preparing for adult life. Stepping Stones provides training for independent living and social/emotional and occupational skills.

Last year's Bite of the 'Boat raised $4,000. Ben Yennie, a para-professional teacher's aide, hopes to exceed that number this year. He encourages residents to attend the event because "it's very social, there's people there from all over town, and it's just fun."
