Election hopefuls to spell out plans

Hayden Town Board and mayoral candidates will talk about the issues facing Hayden and their intentions as elected representatives during a candidates forum at 7 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall.

The election is April 4.

Voters are encouraged to attend the forum, where there will be time to ask questions of the candidates.

The mayoral and trustee races are contested.

The two candidates for mayor are former mayor Richard "Festus" Hagins and current Town Board trustee Joe Schminkey.

Four trustee candidates are running for three seats. They are former trustee Jim Haskins, Mayor Chuck Grobe, Tom Rogal--ski and Andrea Hayden. Rogalski and Hayden are Hayden planning commissioners.

Brent Boyer, city editor for the Hayden Valley Press and Steamboat Pilot & Today, will moderate the forum.

Candidates have received a list of questions so they can prepare their timed answers.

The forum is tentatively structured as follows:

A two-minute opening statement from each candidate

Ninety-second responses to a series of questions from the moderator.

One-minute responses to questions from audience members. The number of questions from the audience will be limited. Candidates can address additional questions and meet with audience members after the forum.
