Historic Routt County seeks new members
Historic Routt County, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the historic character of Routt County communities and rural areas, is looking for new members, volunteers, donations and board members. Among the projects planned for this year are stabilizing the Diamond Window Cabin near Stagecoach Reservoir, conducting a historic property survey of Hayden, maintaining the Toponas Community Club building and helping property owners prepare nominations of their historic buildings to our local, state or national historic registers. Howelsen Ski Area closing, Nordic trails still open
The Howelsen Hill Ski Area, which has been recognized as a Colorado pioneer ski area, will close for the season Sunday. The Nordic and snowshoe trails will stay open, weather permitting, free of charge. For grooming updates, call the Nordic hotline at 879-8552, ext. 739.
Farmers market vendors sought for second year
Main Street Steamboat Springs is looking for vendors to participate in this summer's farmers markets. The markets will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month, from June 17 to Sept. 2. Sellers of homegrown produce, agriculture-related products, value-added foods and crafts, hot food vendors or carts and homemade quality arts and crafts should call Tracy Barnett at 846-1800 or e-mail mainstreet@springsips.com.
Middle school students selling trees for Earth Day
Steamboat Springs Middle School's annual tree sale is under way. The tree sale and fundraiser promotes Earth Day and raises money for educational programs and needs including textbooks, outdoor activities and science camp tuition.
