Oak Creek's Paradigm Theater is a chameleon venue that is offering an alternative to celebrating St. Patrick's Day this year.
The theater's beer-tasting event tonight is "not just a bar and a bottle of beer," said Alana Rothstein, one of the event's organizers. "It is more of a social event. You can come and learn about different beers and meet your friends for a good time."
A couple of classic Irish beers will be represented, along with beer from the Rock Bottom Brewery and the Dillon Dam Brewery. There will be traditional Irish music, including festive drinking songs.
This is the first year the theater is offering the event, and it is co-sponsored by the South Routt Economic Development Council.
The Paradigm Theater opened last November as a venue for comedy and art exhibits, photography, music, readings, spoken word, poetry and theater productions. This event is special because it is offering people the opportunity to try beers that they would not usually have access to in Steamboat and Oak Creek "in a fun, alternative, smoke-free environment," Rothstein said.
