Wurmlinger joins Drahota Construction
Neil Wurmlinger recently joined Drahota Construction's Steamboat Springs staff. He has begun working as the superintendent for the Alpenglow mixed-use development in downtown Steamboat Springs at Sixth Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Wurmlinger brings more than 20 years of construction experience to Drahota. He previously worked in Michigan after relocating there from Colorado.
DISH Network beams HD into Routt County
EchoStar Communications (NASDAQ: DISH) and its DISH Network satellite TV service announced the launch local, high definition TV channels to Routt County customers via its satellite TV service. The following local TV channels will be available in high definition: ABC Ch. 7 (KMGH), CBS Ch. 4 (KCNC) and FOX Ch. 31 (KDVR). The NBC Ch. 9 (KUSA) affiliate is available in standard definition but is not yet available in high definition.
DishHD packages offer customers more than 1,700 hours of HD programming weekly across more than 25 available channels.
2006 ski season marks anniversary of chairlift
The 2006 ski season marks the 70th anniversary of the world's first chairlift operation at Sun Valley, Idaho. It was invented by the Union Pacific Railroad, which also operates coal trains in Northwest Colorado.
During the 1930s, Union Pacific Railroad Chairman W. A. Harriman saw Americans embracing winter sports His vision was to develop a world-class winter sports facility served by Union Pacific.
Construction began on the lodge at Sun Valley in April 1936, as Union Pacific engineers were developing various ways to transport skiers up the slopes. The result was the first chairlift.
