Former Routt County resident Richard "Dick" Kennedy died June 20, 2006, at Yampa Valley Medical Center in Steamboat Springs. He was 66.
A native of Pennsylvania, Dick served in the U.S. Navy and then moved to Colorado in the 1960s. He met his wife, Mary, in Denver, where they married and lived until moving to Fort Collins.
Following graduation from Colorado State University, his family moved to Rock Springs, Wyo., where he worked in the Trona, water treatment and power plant industries for many years. In 1993, Dick returned to Colorado as a chemist for the Hayden Station power plant.
He is preceded in death by his father and sister.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Doug; and his son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Ryan, Julie and Hayden; brother, Dan; mother, Jeanette of Pennsylvania; an uncle; and several nieces and nephews.
An outdoor celebration of Dick's life was held in the Sunset Meadows Arboretum in Craig on June 23, 2006.
Memorial donations may be made to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association-Hospice in care of Grant Mortuary at 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, CO 81625.
