Local students earn degrees, honors

Stephanie Elise Hamilton, daughter of Christine Hamilton of Steamboat Springs, recently graduated from Texas A & M University at Galveston. Stephanie earned a bachelor's of science in marine biology. She is currently working in the research department of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, on the southern coast of Texas. A Steamboat native, Stephanie graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in 2002.

Joseph Cutler, a 2002 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, graduated magna cum laude from Washington and Lee University in Virginia, with degrees in history and political science. He will attend Georgetown University this fall to pursue a master's degree in Strategic Security Studies.

Catherine Ravenscroft of Steamboat has earned a graduate degree in health and physical education from Adams State College in Alamosa.

Clark native Dalton Reed, a junior at McPherson College in McPherson, Kan., received the Julian H. "Pop" Rice Craftmanship Award this spring, from the college's auto restoration department.

Andrew Zopf of Steamboat, a sophomore at Bentley College in Waltham, Mass., has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2006 semester. Zopf is majoring in business.

Alison Hofflich Hoing of Steamboat, a junior at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, has been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2006 semester.

South Routt Farmers Market seeking vendors

The South Routt Farmers Market is seeking vendors for the summer. The first market is from 9 a.m. to noon, July 8 at the South Routt Nursery in Phippsburg. The markets will be every other Saturday beginning July 8 and ending Sept. 2. The vendor fee is $50 for the summer. Call Tracy Zuschlag at 846-4404 for an application.

Newborn Network

looking for volunteers

The Newborn Network is looking for volunteers to spend between two and four hours each month helping local families with newborn children. Volunteers, at the request of interested families, will visit homes to provide information about community resources and child development, as well as give a gift bag to the family. The program is free to local families. Call 879-0977 for more information.

Master Gardeners

answering questions

Local Master Gardeners are on hand at the Routt County Cooperative Extension Office from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays to answer gardening questions. Anyone is encouraged to stop by the office or call 879-0825 to speak with a Master Gardener or request a site visit.

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps requests volunteers

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is looking for community members to volunteer for its field-based workshops this summer. Workshop topics are related to life skills such as career development, leadership and healthy lifestyles. For more information, call 879-2135, ext. 4.
