Register to particpate in Fourth of July parade

Fourth of July parade entry forms are available for any person or group interested in entering a float in this year's parade. The theme of the parade is "Honoring our Hometown Heritage." For an entry form, stop by the Steamboat Springs Visitors Center or visit There is a $50 entry fee for all for-profit businesses and political candidates. All other entries are free. North Routt County home sells before its auction

A 10,000-square-foot home in North Routt County sold for $1.7 million Tuesday, immediately before it was to go on the auction block.

The Craig and Dawn Lodge residence is less than a mile from Pearl Lake State Park.

The buyer was Robert MacAllister of Denver. He made his offer right before the start of the auction.

The president of the auction company in charge of the sale expressed satisfaction with the sell.

"Today we had a happy seller and a happy buyer, and that is always our primary objective," said William Bone of National Auction Group in Gadsden, Ala.

MacGregor Bridge on County Road 205 open

Routt County Road and Bridge officials announced that the new MacGregor Bridge on Routt County Road 205 opened to traffic Wednesday evening. The bridge had been closed for construction.

Steamboat Springs Writers Conference set for July 15

The Steamboat Springs Writers Conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15. A few openings remain for the 25th annual conference, which is sponsored by the Steamboat Springs Arts Council and Writers Group. Instructors include Patricia Black on the art and craft of memoir writing and agent Jody Rein. Registration forms are available at the Depot or by or calling 879-8079.
