Since 1998 the Arts Council has provided an annual opportunity to visit the studios and artists in Routt County. Much different than a typical art show, the Artists' Studio Tour is a fun way to meet artists working in all genres and get an intimate feel for their environments. Each year one of four geographic areas are featured, and the Arts Council docents are busy planning the 2006 Studio Tour, which takes place Aug. 19 and will feature South Routt County and artists working there.
South Routt is an area that's growing but rich with history. Participants in the self-guided tour will visit around 15 studios while having the opportunity to explore the nooks and crannies of Lynx Pass, Yampa, Oak Creek and Phippsburg. The day starts at 9 a.m., with a continental breakfast at the Depot, followed by the tour from
10 am - 3 pm Docents will be on hand at each studio to assist artists in answering questions.
Several South Routt restaurants will provide lunch discounts to tour participants. Admission is $20 in advance and $25 day of, and tickets are available at the Depot.
