Arts calendar for June 9

Opportunities

¤ The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is seeking new members to serve on its Visual Arts Committee. The group is an advisory committee composed of artists, educators and business members who have a passion for visual arts. They help plan and execute gallery exhibits and visual arts programs for the arts council. We would like to build a multi-generational committee to best represent the needs of our community. For more information or for an application, e-mail beth@steamboatspringsarts.com or call 879-9008, ext.106.

¤ The Steamboat Springs Arts Council is seeking volunteers for its docent program. Arts council docents are trained volunteers who staff Art Depot Center galleries, help interpret and explain exhibits and encourage visitor interaction with the artwork, furthering the mission of the arts council. Docents help with unpacking exhibit items, hanging shows and hosting opening receptions. Docents also coordinate the annual Studio Tour and facilitate the "Art for Seniors" program at the Doak Walker Care Center. They are available to lead tours of the exhibits to schools and groups if requested. Docents meet monthly for seminars as well as occasional field trips. Docents continue their arts education by attending the monthly art seminars and gallery talks by presenting artists and exhibition judges, and participating in docent sponsored field trips. Docents also are encouraged to attend art education events and classes at CMC or presented to the community. For more information, contact beth@steamboatspringsarts.com or call 879-9008, ext. 106.
