Oak Creek It's no secret that town of Oak Creek officials support medicinal marijuana.
The Oak Creek Town Board passed a resolution supporting the legalization of medicinal marijuana in August. Tonight, the Town Board will consider a resolution urging U.S. Rep. John Salazar, D-Manassa, to support an amendment preventing the federal government from interfering with state medicinal marijuana laws.

The eight-page resolution calls for Salazar to vote for the Hinchey medicinal marijuana amendment to the Science, State, Justice and Commerce Appropriations bill. The amendment would prohibit the use of federal funds to prevent the states of Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington from implementing state laws authorizing the use of medicinal marijuana.
Sensible Colorado Executive Director Brian Vicente said Sala--zar is scheduled to vote on the amendment at the end of June. Sensible Colorado is an organization that advocates for effective drug policy, including the legalization of medicinal marijuana.

To hear a location-neutral businesses presentation from Noreen Moore.
To hear from Mike Kien, who is requesting to purchase town property near Highland Street.
To discuss making Deputy Town Clerk Vivian Johnson a full-time employee. Johnson would take over the duties of former billing clerk Kathy Brusca, who resigned from her position earlier this week.
To hear from representatives from the Community Methodist Church, who will be requesting assistance from the town with utilities.
To receive an update from Public Works Director Jim Photos about the state of the town's street sweeper renovation project. Photos is scheduled to present an estimate of how much it would cost the town to refurbish the town's existing sweeper.
To discuss necessary electrical system upgrades.
To discuss increasing water meter charges for new construction.
