Joseph Bordner Boyd: 1928--2006

Former Hayden resident Joseph Bordner Boyd passed away May 7, 2006, at Porter Hospice in Centennial. He was 77.
Joe was born Oct. 7, 1928, to Mose B. and Sue (Jackson) Boyd in Lewiston, Ill.
Joe was a graduate of Bradley University and the Wisconsin School of Banking. He was a banker for 48 years, beginning at an agricultural bank in Lewiston. Later, he worked in Chicago and Denver banks before returning to an agricultural bank, which he liked best.
He became president of Yampa Valley State Bank (later to become Yampa Valley National Bank) in August 1978. Her retired Jan.1, 1999.
Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine and Hayden Congregational Church. Throughout the years, he served locally on the Hayden Economic Development Committee, Visiting Nurses Association, West Routt Fire Protection District Board of Directors and supported 4-H.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harvey Jackson Boyd.
He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn; her children Jeffrey Circle and his wife, Esther, Randall Circle and his wife, Debi, Karen Circle and Kristen Kemp; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also is survived by his children from a previous marriage, Scott and his wife, Terry, Lisa Cate and Lori Boyd; two grandchildren; and his brother David and his wife, Sarah.
A memorial service was held May 1, 2006, at Hayden Congregational Church.
