Steamboat Springs The doors of Mocha Molly's, a popular local coffee shop, are closed, at least for the time being.
"I don't get it," Gabi Hviscova said as she read the "closed until further notice" sign on the coffee shop door Tuesday morning. "I wanted a muffin."
The doors were locked and the cafe at 635 Lincoln Ave. was dark, but that didn't keep some people from yanking on the handle in search of their caffeine fix.
"I go here a lot," Hviscova said.
Rumors have been circulating about the future of the coffee shop ever since the business went up for sale.
Officially, the business is in the process of being sold and should reopen soon, said Susan Ross with Coldwell Banker. Ross has been trying to sell the business, currently owned by Gerri Nappa, since the beginning of the year.
Nappa is moving, Ross said, and the store is closed while the ownership is transitioned to the new owner. Nappa could not be reached for comment.
Ross said she could not reveal the name of the man who plans to purchase the business. A closing date has been set for Aug. 1, but there is an option to close on the business up to a week later.
Ross said a local man plans to purchase the business and reopen the popular downtown coffee shop as Mocha Molly's soon.
"He's very excited about it," Ross said. "He's jazzed that it will stay local."
