— Steamboat's renowned titanium crafters are celebrating their anniversary with a little silver.

Moots Cycles will celebrate 25 years of homegrown bicycle production in Steamboat Springs with a weekend full of activities.

"Moots is committed to perfection while continually exploring new technologies and designs," said Jon Cariveau, sales manager at Moots. "Without our dedicated group of owners and dealers, Moots wouldn't have been able to respectfully establish itself within the cycling industry. The Silver Celebration Anniversary Weekend is one way we can express our gratitude to those who supported us over the years."

The activities begin this afternoon with event registration from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Moots factory, 2545 Copper Ridge Drive. Registration costs $25 and includes entry to tonight's road race "criteriums" and Saturday's group rides, barbecue dinner, prize raffle and a gift bag.

After today's orientation ride along the Yampa River Core Trail, Moots will host timed criterium races in three speed divisions around the Copper Ridge business Park, described by Cariveau as "high-paced, fast laps on road bikes."

Saturday morning's activities will be considerably less competitive, with event participants choosing between a guided road ride to Oak Creek and back or a guided group mountain ride that will tour Howelsen Hill and upper Emerald Mountain.

The Silver Celebration events conclude with Saturday night's barbecue party, where a new Moots frame will be raffled.

Cariveau expects between 100 and 175 participants to attend the celebration and reminded the general public that the Moots factory will be an open house, hosting free factory tours today and Saturday.

Registration forms and information can be found at www.moots.com or by calling 879-1676.
