— Abdoulaye Camara has been a dancer all of his life.

Camara, who is from the African nation Guinea, is now a dance master and will share his knowledge with the community tonight and Tuesday night.

Members of the public can join the dance and drum classes, which also will be given to students in the Afro Dance and Drum Ensemble. The performance group comprises people who take a class at Colorado Mountain College.

Robin Getter, who teaches the class, met Camara, who travels around the world teaching, in California years ago.

Camara's knowledge will help the students and others learn more about traditional African dance, which is aerobic and is integrated with drumming, Getter said.

"It's to help us hone our skills and also to help the community experience African dance from the source," she said.

The classes are great for people who can't take the time to take the dance classes through Colorado Mountain College, Getter said.

"It's an opportunity to take it and learn," she said. "It's also a great workout."

The chance to learn from a master is rare, Getter said.

"Getting to know an African artist personally in a class is a unique opportunity," she said.
