Chamber looking for Winter Carnival volunteers

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is looking for volunteers to work Winter Carnival street events Feb. 11 and 12. Volunteers are needed from about 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days. Anyone interested in helping during the Winter Carnival is asked to call Jody Anagnos at 879-0882, ext. 203.

Carnival street event registration opens Feb. 2

Registration to participate in the street events for the 93rd Winter Carnival opens Feb. 2 at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association's visitor's center, 1255 S. Lincoln Ave. Those interested in registering for an event are encouraged to do so early. The visitor's center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Lowell Whiteman School changing admissions

Because of an increasing number of applications from students in the Steamboat Springs area, The Lowell Whiteman School is moving from a rolling admissions process to a deadline process.

The school has two admission deadlines for next school year. Those seeking early admission should submit applications by Feb. 1. Applications for regular admission are due April 15.

Boys, girls spring lacrosse registration under way

Registration for spring lacrosse is under way for boys in grades four through eight and girls in grades six through eight. The deadline for youth lacrosse registration is Feb. 15. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.yampavalley.info after clicking on the "Recreation" and "Lacrosse" links. Call Neill Redfern at 870-6545 for more information.

Book discussion series continues through spring

Bud Werner Memorial Library's "It's a Girl Thing" book discussion series for girls and women will continue this spring. This free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a female partner, such as a mom, grandma, friend or teacher. Pairs may sign up for one or two discussions.

The discussions are from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3, March 3 and April 7 at the library. The library will give each pair a copy of the discussion book to keep.

Registration is required. Call the library at 879-0240 or stop by the children's desk to sign up. Space is limited.
