Steamboat Springs' utility district officials violated a drinking water standard in November by failing to take the required number of water samples for standard monitoring purposes. Director of Public Works Jim Weber said city workers took only six of the nine samples required for regularly scheduled water monitoring. The monitoring results tell officials whether the water meets health standards. The city is required by the state to notify customers of the error and will send out a mailing.
