Former Yampa resident Bueford Eugene Huffstetler died Feb. 14, 2006. He was 88.
He was born Oct. 12, 1917, in Hartville, Mo., to John Arden and Sarah Ada Young Huffstetler.
Bueford came to the Yampa Valley as a child and was raised on a ranch with his family, lifetime cattle ranchers. He graduated from Yampa Union High School in 1934. Bueford married Doris E. Norman on Oct. 14, 1940, and they had three sons.
His interests were fly fishing and hunting. He had great passion for his draft horses, King and Chub, whom he traveled with throughout Wyoming and Colorado, competing and winning many awards. Bueford raised registered Hereford cattle and was a member of the Colorado Cattlemen's Association, The Yampa School Board, The Yampa River Water District and other community activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Aaron; and a grandson, John Huffstetler.
Bueford was survived and will be missed by his loving wife, Doris E. Huffstetler of Grand Junction; son, Bruce and his wife, Mary Lou Huffstetler, of Riverton, Wyo., and son, Dwight Huffstetler of Yampa; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 18, 2006, at the Yampa Bible Church.
