Board recommends commissioner
Tuesday, February 7, 2006
The Hayden Town Board voted unanimously last week to recommend Jeff Fry for the Routt County Planning Commission.
Fry would replace Bill Taylor as the planning commissioner representing the Hayden area. Taylor is moving out of the county.
The Routt County Board of Commissioners has the final say about whether Fry will replace Taylor.
Fry, a 40-year resident of Routt County, works for Bears Ears Excavating. He said one of his primary goals is to keep compact growth in towns and cities.
"With the continuing growth in Routt County, it is important to preserve our ranching and farming communities and at the same time to promote economic growth in and around our towns and city in Routt County," Fry wrote in a letter of interest to the Town Board.
Also on Thursday, the Town Board voted to adopt a fee schedule. The purpose of the fee schedule is to combine the town's fees into one document.
The Town Board raised the sales tax licensing fee from $5 to $25. The licensing fee is paid annually by businesses that charge sales tax. Town Manager Russ Martin said processing the licenses is labor intensive, and the increase will help cover the processing costs.
