Ramona Celia Matlock, 1943-2006

Former Phippsburg resident Ramona Celia Matlock passed away at her home in Glenwood Springs on Feb. 1, 2006. She was 62.

Ramona was born Nov. 7, 1943, in Espanola, N.M., to Joseph and Bessie (Martinez) Romero. She moved to Colorado at a very young age and lived here for the rest of her life. Ramona married Donald K. Matlock on March 26, 1977, in Glenwood Springs, and they had three children. She was a retired postmaster and worked as the postmaster in Oak Creek. Ramona was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was a member of St. Anne's Church in Grand Lake.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Bessie Romero; and her sister Loretta Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, Donald K. Matlock; her son, James Joseph of Fort Collins; her two daughters, Dawn Michelle of Idaho Springs and Trudy Ann of Denver; her brother, Joseph and his wife Kay Romero of Colorado Springs; and her sister Marie and her husband Paul Frey of Grand Junction.

Services were held Feb. 4, 2006, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs with Father Cliff McMillan officiating.
