Oak Creek Oak Creek employees may soon see a drastic change in their insurance packages.
The Oak Creek Town Board is scheduled to discuss tonight what percentage of health insurance costs the town should pay for employees' dependents. The discussion item was postponed from a Dec. 14 meeting because the board had agreed to not make any changes to town insurance without researching its options first.
The town currently pays 80 percent of employee dependent coverage premiums. An ordinance passed in February 2002 was supposed to change that amount to 60 percent.
Town Clerk Karen Halterman said the board will need to decide if it wants to continue paying 80 percent of the premium, 60 percent of the premium or none of it, which was what was originally proposed during the Dec. 14 meeting.
If any changes are made to the employee insurance package, it will only affect employees hired after Jan. 1, Halterman said.
The Town Board typically does not meet in December, but the board decided to hold a meeting in anticipation of a lengthy Jan. 11 agenda.
In other business, the Town Board is scheduled to:
- Discuss how to proceed in a lawsuit an Oak Creek resident is bringing against the town and other plaintiffs about quiet title.
- Amend an ordinance allowing the Town Board to appoint its commissioners. The amendment will correct an existing ordinance that gave the town mayor the power to appoint the board's commissioners.
- Hear a report from the Oak Creek Planning Commission.
- Hear about repairs that were made to the town's street sweeper.
