Optimist Club names Magee student of month

— Hayden senior Lacey Magee, 18, was named the December Optimist Teen of the Month. Magee has a 3.2 GPA and is involved with the Future Business Leaders of America, the El Pomar Youth in Community Service group and the Community Action Network. Magee also has been in student government for the past three years.

Magee loves to play softball and has been active in gymnastics and cheerleading. She also enjoys riding horses and spending time with her family and friends. Magee is a waitress at Creek View Grill and has worked for the Hayden Mercantile, Alpine Taxi and at Lyon's Drug Store. Magee would like to attend nursing school at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and specialize in pediatric nursing, so she can continue working with young children.

Davis gets degree from University of Wisconsin

Katherine Leland Davis of Steamboat Springs has received her Bachelor's of Science in biomedical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

Cavanagh graduates from School of Mines

Denver

Sean Cavanagh, a 2003 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He graduated with high honors and attended the School of Mines on both a Presidential and Mines Medal Scholarship. Cavanagh has accepted a position in the engineering department of BOA Technologies.
