Steamboat Springs Bank to help others avoid identity theft
First National Bank of the Rockies Regional President Greg Dixson has announced that the bank is participating in a program over the holidays to bring awareness to identity theft and fraud. Dixson said each of the bank's 10 offices will provide a variety of free information on how to prevent identity theft.
"Identity theft is a serious and growing problem that gets worse during the holiday season," said Dixson. "It occurs when consumers' personal information is stolen to commit fraud and other crimes. Identity theft costs people time and money, ruins their credit and destroys their good name. Our goal is to provide people with the information they need to protect themselves from identity theft."
As part of its Identity Theft Prevention Program, FNBR also is holding a drawing to give away a free paper shredder. Customers can register to win the paper shredder at any First National Bank of the Rockies location. The drawing will take place on Jan. 3, 2007, and entrants need not be present to win.
