Steamboat Springs Guitarist Brent Rowan added an additional acoustic Christmas show at 9 p.m. today because tickets sold out for his 7 p.m. show.
"This is unreal because there are a lot of Christmas parties and things to do that night," Rowan said. "By the community putting their arms around this - this is what I was hoping would happen - people want this to be part of their annual Christmas tradition."
Rowan will perform Christmas and original songs with singer and keyboardist Regi Stone.
"We're humbled and excited," Rowan said. "That is what you hope for - for what you do to be desired by people."
In the past 25 years of Rowan's career as a guitarist, he has worked more than 12,000 recording sessions representing more than 150 million records sold.
Rowan worked primarily as a studio guitar player. He was never in the spotlight until he started composing his own music when his wife was pregnant with their first son.
"I started writing a vignette and pieces to play for him in the womb because I wanted him to connect with what I was about," he said. "I wanted to leave my children a musical legacy."
This desire to share what he loves will be apparent in Rowan and Stone's performance tonight.
"It's very humbling just to be able to share our love for music and Christmas with the community," Rowan said. "We want this concert to get big and be thousands of people every year if we can."
